Tree of Hope planting a ‘symbol’ for all affected

RESIDENTS in Sruleen parish, Clondalkin, established a Tree of Hope in the community to remember those who sadly passed away and those suffering from mental health issues.

The initiative was spearheaded by a young local girl, who lost her father during the summer, and wanted to bring a Tree of Hope to the community.

The planting of the tree took place at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sruleen, in Clondalkin on Sunday after midday Mass.

Organisers invited residents to gather as a community and plant the tree “as a symbol to all sadly affected by a suicide or living with mental health issues.”

People who attended released a yellow balloon “as a mark of respect and remembrance for those that have sadly gone too soon”.

Light refreshments were served in the parish centre after the ceremony.
