TUD make it back to back Mauritius Cup titles

THE TUD Hockey Club recently emerged victorious in the Mauritius Cup final with their men’s side defeating Queens University Belfast 4-0 in Kilkenny.

The college were competing at the 2026 Intervarsities tournament which is the premier Hockey competition for third level institutions with the Mauritius and Chilean Cups contested for over both men and women’s categories respectively.

The men’s side route to the final saw them beat Ulster University and Trinity College Dublin 2-0 and 9-0 in the group stage.

These solid results meant they would compete in the semi final where they came up against UCD and managed to secure a 5-2 victory.

The occasion marked the third time that TU Dublin have won the Mauritius Cup with their first title coming back in 2021. This particular win was the first time that they had managed to retain the trophy also after winning last year’s tournament.

Captained by Harry Dagg of Avoca Hockey Club, the team was led by Coach Peabo Lembether and Manager Marcus Blake.

The TUD women’s side were also in action over the course of the tournament as they managed to reach the semi final of the Chilean Cup.

In the semi-final, they would be defeated by UCC 1-0 in an extremely tight game with Queen’s University going on to win the final.
