Donore Harriers enjoy busy fortnight across road and cross country competitions

Donore Harriers had a busy two weeks of competition recently with runners competing in both road and cross country events.

60 runners from the club competed in the Dublin Marathon with many great performances, among them were Kane Collins who was first home from the club and eight overall with a time of 2:23 while Wayne Waldron set a new PB with a time of 2:25.

Emily Cunniffe was the first woman home for the club with a time of 3:07, also a PB.

Some great results also emerged from the Dublin Marathon Club Championship, incorporated into the race.

The Senior, M35 and M50 teams all won silver while Kane Collins earned overall senior silver, Wayne Waldron won M40 gold, Bernard Geraghty won M50 silver and Peter Gaffney left with a bronze in the M55 division.

A week later Mark Kelly ran a time of 3:06 in the iconic New York marathon while Suzie Henley Willis clocked a win statewide at the K9 Warriors 5k in Nashville with Ken Henley Willis not far behind.

In the cross country the men’s team were ninth at the Leinster Novice Cross Country in Gowran with Ayub Essarghini in fifth place.

At the Dublin Senior Cross Country in Abbotstown, the men’s team came in seventh place. There was no full team in the women’s race but Sorcha Loughnane and Amy Moriarty ran well.

There were terrific results from juniors and juveniles with team gold for boys U19 and U20, girls U15, and bronze for the boys U15 and U17 teams.

Ailbhe Finucane and Adam Noone both won individual golds with Harry Moran earning silver and Charlie O’Neill and Tighe Morris both grabbing bronze.
