TWO local business innovators from South Dublin County, competed with other winners from Dublin at the regional final of ‘Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur’ competition at the Conrad Hotel, reports Maurice Garvey.

Eugene Murphy, from Perrystown, whose company Muscrai Suction Excavation Irl Ltd, were finalists in the Best Start-Up Business category.

Whilst neither finalists made it through to December’s national final, they will share a €30,000 investment fund through the Local Enterprise Office, after reaching the county final stage of the competition.

Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) competition is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through the 31 LEO’s around the country.

The nominees were all interviewed by a three-member judging panel and had to deliver a business pitch live.
Special guests included Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton, Mayor of South Dublin Sarah Holland and MC for the night Sean Gallagher.

Head of Enterprise with the LEO South Dublin, Colm Ward, praised nominees and entrants who “flew the flag” for the county and looked forward to supporting businesses into the future.

Mayor Sarah Holland said: “We aim to develop and foster a culture of entrepreneurship within our county and this competition is a very innovative way to showcase new business ideas.”
