Two women and 19 men appear on drugs charges after Garda sting in Tallaght

Nineteen men and two women appeared before Tallaght District Court this week charged with the sale and supply of drugs to undercover gardai.

In 2016, the Street Purchasing Unit attached to the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit, together with the Tallaght Drugs Unit, carried out an operation where 74 deals of cannabis, cocaine, heroin and diazepam were purchased by undercover gardai from 24 individuals.

Three of the individuals were juveniles and have been dealt with under the JLO. The remaining 21 appeared before Judge Patricia McNamara on bail.

The court heard that it will be alleged the 21 accused sold drugs in  amounts worth between €20 and €50 to a number of undercover gardai.

 

Twenty of the accused were represented by solicitor, Michael Hennessy. One was represented by solicitor Jeremiah Breen.

Legal aid was granted in all but two of the cases.

She remanded all 21 to appear before Tallaght Court on September 21 next
