Unwrap the festive season with a free outdoor lantern parade

THE annual winter celebration Unwrapped will be staged this Saturday, December 2, with a lantern parade, music, dance performances, hot chocolate and a hot fruit punch on the menu.

To mark the start of the event, which marks the beginning of the festive season, the community is invited to be part of a lantern parade that will leave IT Tallaght at 4.45pm and meander along the Old Blessington Road to County Hall, where the Civic Theatre and Rua Red are located.

Once here, people will be treated to dance performances, Christmas songs and the official lighting of the Christmas tree by South Dublin County Mayor, Paul Gogarty.

An open invitation has been extended to the entire community to wrap up warm and help celebrate the start of the festive season with more than 200 participants from across a number of schools and youth, disability, art, performance and music groups in South Dublin County.

The family-friendly event, which will also have plenty of hot chocolate and warm fruit punch on offer, will finish at 6.15pm.
