Fianna Fáil councillor Trevor Gilligan said he was “happy to second a proposal from the Mayor for the grants” at South Dublin County Council.

Groups which secured a €500 grant include RAMS (Retired Active Mens Social Club), Bawnogue Amateur Boxing Club, Balgaddy Community Garden, and Sruleen Community Development.

Rathcoole Community Council secured a €500 grant for minor equipment and a €500 grant for social inclusion and poverty.
Monastery Estate Residents Association secured a €300 for a community activity grant.

Cllr Gilligan said: “All of the successful local groups work tirelessly in their community. I am happy to say that the council will also inform unsuccessful applicants on how they can improve their applications.

“The community fund will reopen early next year. Groups should make sure that they have everything in place and work closely with the council if they are to successfully apply for the Community Grants Fund.”
