ESTEEMED Naas Road beauty and fitness college, The Waverley Academy, have been voted Ireland’s number one training academy at the recent Irish Hair and Beauty Awards 2016.
Established in 1994, the academy uses the latest training methods and techniques in beauty, hair and make-up, and recently added a new range of courses in response to changes in the industry.
Veronica Clinton, Director at The Waverley said: “It was incredible to be voted number one when so many colleges from around Ireland were entered. But it’s down to the many thousands of students from Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan and Ballyfermot areas who have trained with us.
“Many of them have started fantastic careers and businesses in the hair, beauty, makeup and fitness industries and hundreds of them voted for us in the awards. In fact, one of our students, Niamh McEvoy, will be opening up a new barbering academy in Empire Barbers (Tallaght) in the new year.”
Veronica believes the beauty industry is “booming at the moment” and now is a good time to upskill or learn a new craft at the academy, which can either lead to employment, or starting your own business.
Veronica continued: “We have a range of part-time courses starting for anyone who wants to become a hairdresser, beautician, makeup artist or fitness instructor. There are courses to suit all budgets starting from €55 and applicants may be entitled to funding from local funding agencies.
Many of the courses have international qualifications and are recognized by all employers. Our courses are suitable for all ages and if you want to contact us there is always someone available to help.”
The Waverley Academy is ideally located behind McDonalds on the Kylemore road beside the Luas Kylemore stop.
The Waverley Academy is now taking admissions for courses beginning in October. Phone 4089769 or visit www.academy.ie for further details.
