Webster hoping Pat’s kick on against Waterford

St Patrick's Athletic defender David  sees tomorrow night’s clash with Waterford United at Richmond Park as a real opportunity for the Inchicore side to hit the ground running in what will be a very tough month ahead for the team.

Harry Kenny’s outfit will face three off the top four sides in the Premier Division over the course of May and will want to be on a sound footing for that.

A victory over a Waterford outfit that beat them 2-0 in the Showgrounds back in March will certainly boost confidence as they gear up for upcoming games against Derry City, Bohemians and Dundalk.

Five points currently separate fifth place Pat’s from Waterford in sixth, but Webster sees parallels between the two sides this season.

“Waterford have started the season a bit like us” he told The Echo. “They’ve been hot and cold and they’ve struggled to get that consistency.

“They’ve had a big turnaround of players just like ourselves, but this is another big game and a huge opportunity for us to push on.

“It’s been a crazy April with so many games, but in May it calms down a bit so hopefully we can put together another good run and this is our first game in May. We’re looking forward to it”

Pat’s will be coming into this match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of current Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium on Monday.

“We were disappointed with the result” said Webster. “We probably deserved a draw, but the performance was good and we created a few chances so we’ll take the positives from it.

“We were on a three-game winning run coming into that match and looking at out league position, we’re not where we really want to be.

“I don’t think our position in the table justifies the performances we’ve been putting in. It’s just been a few silly mistakes that we’ve made, giving away goals that’s cost us” he added.
