Widow appeals for the return of priceless pics

A DEVASTATED widow is appealing for the return of a computer hard drive that contains over a decade of photos of her recently deceased husband, after her Citywest home was callously broken into and “thrown apart”.
Mallika Pinnamaneni’s home that she shares with her two young sons, aged six and two, was broken into last weekend, with laptops, tablets and a MyPassport WD hard drive stolen from the house.
Mallika’s husband Rakesh suddenly passed away at the end of June after feeling unwell, just days before he was due to travel to India to meet his wife and sons, who were already there on holiday.
Following Rakesh’s passing, Mallika and her sons have been in India with family and had only recently returned to Dublin to try to continue living in the Citywest home where they had been living for the past three years.
Photographs from the last 10 years of Mallika’s husband Rakesh are contained on the hard drive, with an appeal started online by a family friend to ask for the safe return of the hard drive and photos of Rakesh and his friends and family.
Speaking to The Echo, Mallika said: “The photos are all I have left of my husband. There are photos from the last 10 years and of my kids playing with him – it is not about the monetary value.
“The hard drive is worthless to anyone else, if they were to sell it on they wouldn’t get much out of it.
“It was like a bomb had hit the house. Our friends had just gotten the house cleaned, but everything was thrown apart and broken.
“They were clearly looking for money or gold, they looked through cupboards, bins and everything was all over the place.
“We cannot go back to the house now, my children are terrified but my son has friends here and returned back to school on Monday.
“We don’t want to leave the area and we’re looking for somewhere else to live, but my children will not return to that house.
“I’m only thankful that none of us were in the house when it happened, I just want my family to be safe.”
