Woman arrested following fatal stabbing in Browns Barn

GARDAI in Clondalkin have arrested a woman, aged in her 30s, following a fatal stabbing in the Browns Barn Estate, near Citywest which occurred in the early hours of this morning.

A male, aged in his late 20s, received fatal injuries as a result of the stabbing incident. His body remains at the scene on Browns Barn Wood.

The Garda Technical Bureau is currently at the scene and the State Pathologist has been informed and Gardai are awaiting her attendance.

According to a Garda statement released: “The female, aged in her 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained in Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“An Garda Síochána are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing as there is no known motive at this time.”

The scene in question is at Browns Barn Woods in Kingswood which is on a busy road not too far from Clondalkin Rugby Club and the Roadstone Club.

Speaking to The Echo this morning, concerned residents said: ‘We only heard the news on the radio this morning. Everyone is in a state of shock. The area is very quiet around here. We just can’t believe it,”.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Browns Barn Estate and Kingswood area between the hours of 6am and 7am today (Tuesday, February 25) who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.

Gardaí are particularly appealing to road users who may have camera footage.
