Woman dies after being struck by tram on Luas red line

A woman has died after she was struck by a tram on the Luas red line in the early hours of this morning.

The collision happened at approximately 12:35am at St James’ Walk in Rialto, near the Fatima Luas stop.

According to Gardai, the female (age currently unknown) was fatally injured when she was hit by the tram.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The scene of the incident was closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the area but has since reopened.

“The Coroner has been notified of the death.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have information is asked to contact Kilmainham Garda Station 01-666 9700, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
