Christine Buckley Centre choir to sing at St John’s
THE Christine Buckley Centre Choir will perform on Friday, December 13, in St John’s Church, Clondalkin.
The free event is taking place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, to support mental health, and the choir will feature centre members Colm Gavin, Paige Acton, Sophie Cullen, Aoife O’Connor and Terri Harrison.

Terri Harrison, a Director of the Christine Buckley Centre, said: “We are trying to let people who suffer in silence know that there is no need to be afraid.
We offer so many classes services of support, and they are all confidential.”
In 1973, Ms Harrison, a Parkwest resident, gave birth in Bessborough Mother and Baby home, whereupon her first-born son was swiftly taken from her hands.
She joined the Collaborative Forum on Mother and Baby Homes 18 months ago – which is comprised of former residents of institutions.
“We are hopeful of the outcome of the Commission under Judge Yvonne Murphy.
“Waiting on results which represent so many survivors and those still surviving.”
Independent Cllr Francis Timmons, also a Director at the Christine Buckley Centre, is hosting the choir event on Friday.
“Christmas can be a sad and lonely time for many, so I urge people to watch out for others,” said Cllr Timmons.
“Sometimes the most outgoing sociable person can be the one in need of a shoulder. Mental health affects us all and we need to look after it.’’
Ms Harrison said the choir hope to perform in “many community centres in the new year.”
She urges survivors of institutional abuse to contact the Christine Buckley Centre at 872 5771, lines open Tuesday to Friday 10am to 4pm.
