First phase of work to begin on Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh
PERMISSION has been granted for the first phase of work on the development of Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh at the Loreto Abbey Complex in Rathfarnham.
The Department of Education has received planning permission for partial demolitions, refurbishment and a new circulation link extension to the existing Loreto Abbey Complex.
The proposed first phase of works shall consist of partial demolitions of two-storey link and toilet extensions.
Plans include the construction of a new 787sq.m replacement four-storey glazed circulation extension linking the existing 1725 Georgian House and 1890s St Anne’s buildings.
Refurbishment works to the existing 1725 Georgian House and 1890s St Anne’s buildings, with works to the ground floor of the 1903 gymnasium building are included.
It’s noted in the planning application that the three buildings all form part of the protected structure RPS number 253.
Other works include the demolition of 20th Century extension to, and holding works for future re-use, to the Northern Gate Lodge.
Construction of a temporary school prefabricated toilet accommodation, for school use during the phasing of the main construction works, is included.
On-site drop-off, set-down and vehicular parking provisions, and associated off-site works adjoining the shared access road/right of way with the Loreto Abbey apartment development is also permitted.
South Dublin County Council granted permission for the plans this month.
