
Garda investigation underway after teenager attacked with meat cleaver in Lucan
A Garda investigation is underway after a teenager suffered suspected stab wounds during an attack in Lucan on Bank Holiday Monday night.
The incident occurred just after 10pm on Balgaddy Road, near the Foxborough estate, when a group attacked an 18-year-old male with a meat cleaver, according to an eye-witness.
The teenager was rushed to St James’ Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his arm. His condition is not known at this time.
There was a large Garda presence on Balgaddy Road overnight as officers cordoned off an area and searched the surrounding roads.
In a statement released to Echo.ie, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Ronanstown are investigating an assault causing harm on Balgaddy Road on Monday night.
“The incident occurred at approximately 10:10pm when a group of youths approached an 18-year-old male and set upon him.
“Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Ronanstown Garda station on 01-6667700.
