Gardai investigate after 76-year-old man receives facial injury after assault

GARDAI are investigating after a man in his seventies was assaulted in Knocklyon on Saturday night, with a lady in her sixties mugged in Templeogue in a separate incident later that night.

The incident in Knocklyon saw a 76-year-old man receive minor injuries to his face after being assaulted at 11.45pm on the Scholarstown Road on Saturday, November 10.

In a statement to The Echo, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are seeking a suspect described as a male in his 20s, approximately 5 foot 10 to 6 foot, who was wearing grey bottoms and a dark coloured jacket. 

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing." 

In a separate incident, Gardai in Terenure are investigating after a male approached a man and woman in their 60s on Orwell Road, Templeogue, and made off with a handbag in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a Garda spokesperson: “The suspect is described as being tall, wearing [an] all grey track suit.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
