LauraLynn charity touches students hearts
OVER €1,000 was raised for children’s hospice LauraLynn at a fundraiser organised by marketing students at TUDublin – Tallaght Campus on Monday morning.
Over 200 students took part in the fundraiser, which included a raffle and activities such as ‘spin the wheel’, and saw students give generously to a good cause.
The event was organised by eight third-year marketing students, namely Jane Connolly, Holly Swaine, Laura Fisher, Claudia Quarry, Jessica Ropotan, Aoife Croke, Katie O’Connell and Sarah Jane Keddy.
Explaining how the event went, Sarah Jane Keddy told The Echo: “Between students and staff, the Tallaght foyer was packed with supportive donors.
“The LauraLynn Foundation clearly has a special place in the hearts of many people who were excited and delighted to support the cause with the overall atmosphere being lively.
“The inner child in all those who took part in our games and spin the wheel truly came out with the children in mind.”
This is the second time the marketing students have held an event in support of LauraLynn, as last year they teamed up with 3D Assist to make Halloween costumes for children with limb differences.

The children from LauraLynn had the costumes tailor-made for them by students in 3D Assist, with the support of TUDublin – Tallaght Campus marketing students.
This experience made the students more aware of the work of LauraLynn, and so they were delighted when they raised over €1,000 – and counting – as a result of their fundraiser this week.
“We were overwhelmed with the amount of support we received from our fellow students and staff alike,” added Sarah Jane.
“We truly did not expect to exceed our original target of €500 and deeply appreciate the generosity.
“We hope the funds raised can provide future memories, as Robbie [from 3D Assist Tallaght] has explained to us that LauraLynn so deeply focuses on for the children and their families.”
