Laurels Santa Cycle targets €10k for Ronald McDonald House

THE Laurels Cycle Crew are doing their annual Santa cycle on Sunday, December 3, and new members are welcome to join in the fun.

The charity cycle will start at 4pm at the Laurels pub in Clondalkin Village, onto the Phoenix Park, the north quays, south quays, Christchurch, and on to Ronald McDonald House in Crumlin, and back to the Laurels in Clondalkin Village.

It is a fun leisurely cycle, aided by well trained professionals, and all levels of ability are welcome to join. “It is all in aid of Ronald McDonalds House.

We are truly delighted to support them and have support from Cuisine De France. Our target is to raise €10k for this wonderful event.

We will be supported again by motorbike marshals, gardai, volunteers, and Clondalkin Choir to sing carols when we get back to the village,” said Derek Cummins, a Laurels Crew volunteer.

The Santa cycle starts at 4pm at the Laurels and the target is to return at 6pm.

Tickets are €35 and available at Eventbrite – fees include Santa suit, lights for the bike and a complimentary pint.

On return to the village there will be mince pies and hot wine. Clondalkin Choir will sing Christmas carols and there will be some raffles.

There will also be presentations of big cheques to Headway, whom the Laurels Crew have supported for three years, and Ronald McDonald House, their latest designated charity partner.

Fiona Murphy the CEO from Headway said the brain injury support organisation has been fortunate to be chosen as the charity partner of The Laurel’s Cycle Crew for a number of years.

“The substantial amount of funds raised by the Laurels has enabled us to add a Clinical Psychologist role to our team in Dublin, providing counselling and therapeutic supports to people with acquired brain injury and their families.

This has had a massive impact on providing additional crucial services and reducing waiting times for people in need of urgent help,” said Ms Murphy.
