Lester helps lead Leinster to title
ROWAN Lester of Hermitage Golf Club played a leading role in Leinster’s victory at the Interprovincial Championships in Tullamore last week.
Indeed he emerged from the tournament the only unbeaten player and the leading points scorer with a hugely impressive five wins and one half.
Hermitage’s Rowan Lester was Leinster’s leading scorer
Victories over Ulster and defending champions Munster proved enough to see Leinster land their fourth Inter-pro title in five seasons.
Even a 7-4 defeat at the hands of Connacht on Day Three of the competition was not enough to derail them in their march to the prize as they required just three points from that match.
Lester, a Home Internationals and North of Ireland Championship winner, chalked up no less than six birdies on his way to a 2&1 victory over Allan Hill in his closing match.
Rob Brazill was another top performer for Leinster and clinched the winning point for the province when he beat Sean Flanagan 6&5.
