Lidl plans for Belgard Inn nearing approval
By Laura Lyne
A DECISION on a proposal for the construction of a new Lidl store at the Belgard Inn is due by early September, after additional information was submitted on the application.
If plans for the development are approved, it will see the demolition of the existing Belgard Inn pub and the construction of a new Lidl foodstore and retail unit building.
The additional information, which was requested by South Dublin County Council back in May, relates to visual and residential amenity, noise impact, details on the watermain layout and details on the environmental impact.
As previously reported in The Echo, the additional information was requested following a number of submissions from local residents about the application.
Concerns raised by residents included the increase in traffic in the area, the boundary treatments on the site, fears of anti-social activity in the area and the need for a demolition and construction plan for the development.
The decision from South Dublin County Council on the development is due by September 5.
