Lucan J1 student shares embarrassing moment she fails to recognise Taoiseach in Chicago
A Lucan student living in Chicago for the summer was left a little red faced yesterday after she failed to recognise Leo Varadkar when he came into the restaurant she was working in.
Emma Kelly is living in the US on a J1 visa for the summer, and she took to Twitter yesterday evening to share her embarrassing moment with the Taoiseach.
Leo varadkar comes into our restaurant in Chicago, first I ask is he Irish then I put him on a wait list and then I put him at a tiny table

According to the Lucan native, she first asked was he Irish, then she put him on a waiting list for a table, and finally she sat him at a table she said was “tiny”.
Thankfully, the Taoiseach took it all in good jest, and apparently enjoyed being treated like a normal customer rather than the VIP treatment he would be used to.
Emma’s tweets were instantly picked up by the media, and she even shared what she said was a “painfully awkward” picture of her and her friend with Leo Varadkar.
