Man (50) charged with over €4,000 in social welfare fraud
A MAN will be tried in the Circuit Court over a €4k social welfare fraud.
A Solicitor for the DPP told Judge David Hugh in Blachardstown District Court that the DPP had directed trial on indictment in Nitte Nvangwile’s case.
Nvagwille, aged 50, with an address at Buirg An Ri Glen, Lucan, is charged with multiple counts of theft of jobseeker's allowance, social welfare payments and rent allowance with making false representations to or concealing facts from the Department of Social Protection for the purposes of obtaining payments on dates between 2004 and 2014, at the department offices in Clondalkin and the Naas Road, as well as post offices in Clondalkin and at Parkgate Street.
The Solicitor for the DPP asked Judge McHugh for an adjournment for service of the book of evidence.
Nvangwile’s counsel, Ciaran MacLoughlin Bl, made an application for free legal aid on behalf of his client.
He filed a statement of the accused’s financial means.
Sergeant Geraldine McManigan said the accused was “under the threshold” and the judge granted legal aid.
Judge McHugh remanded Nvagwille on continuing bail for six weeks for service of his book of evidence.
