Scramblers wreck green spaces

GREEN spaces in Cherry Orchard and Drimnagh were among those that suffered from damage by scramblers and quads over Christmas.

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Daithí Doolan, chair of the Joint Policing Committee, said: “Pitches and greens were seriously damaged by Christmas scramblers in Drimnagh and Cherry Orchard.

“Christmas morning has become another Halloween. Communities cannot be held to ransom by scramblers.

Parents must stop buying children scramblers. These are not toys. These are destroying our recreation facilities.”

Some residents reported gangs of kids on quad bikes in Cherry Orchard with one resident claiming kids were out on their bikes as early as 5am on Christmas morning.

Cllr Doolan said the issue “must be tackled head on” by gardai and Dublin City Council.
