Seven local families issued with warnings about anti-social behaviour

TENANCY warnings have been issued to seven families in the Harelawn estate – whilst a further three tenancy warnings are currently being issued to families whose household members are involved in anti-social behaviour.
The joint garda and South Dublin County Council action follows a particularly trying 12 months for Harelawn residents – with a gang of youths causing havoc in the area.
Over the last 12 months there have been reports of stolen cars, burglaries and a person knocked down in the estate.
In April residents took part in a community survey conducted by Sinn Féin which revealed that almost 70 per cent of people were concerned about the high levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Sinn Féin councillor Eoin Ó Broin put forward a question at the Clondalkin ACM on Wednesday – asking the council for a report of the number of anti-social incidents reported since January and detail on what action is being taken.
In response to Cllr Ó Broin, a council spokesperson said: “The council’s Housing Estate Management Team are working closely with members of An Garda Siochána in respect of anti-social behaviour by under-age gangs in the Harelawn area.
In liaison with gardaí, tenancy warnings have been issued to seven families within Harelawn estate following interviews convened by the Housing Estate Management team. A further three tenancy warnings are currently being issued to families whose household members are involved in anti-social behaviour.”
The council plan to continue to liaise with gardaí in respect of “ongoing anti-social behaviour” in the area and said further action under the Housing Act may be taken.
Harelawn residents set up Neighbourhood Watch Page and also put up posts on the Clondalkin Neighbourhood Watch on Facebook to warn others of any problems in the area.
