
Templeogue ladies make strong cup start
TEMPLEOGUE Basketball Club’s Division One ladies carded a 73-62 point victory over Portlaoise Panthers in the preliminary round of the National Intermediate Cup.
Templeogue started the first quarter slowly in this qualifier in the NICC and consequently trailed 15-10 and that deficit increased to eight points midway through the second.
Yet they rallied with nine points from Hannah Murphy and a three-point buzzer beater by Lynn Tunnah to head in at the half 34-31 in front.
They started strong in the third quarter with a court press and scores from Amie Tunnah and Joanne Mahon along with a two-point buzzer beater by Lauren Darcy.
This helped put them seven points up heading into the final quarter during which they scored four three-pointers to see the game out and move into the first round proper of the competition.
