
Young driver (17) dies in road crash on N7
GARDAI are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision on the Naas Road, Clondalkin, in the early hours of this morning.
According to a Garda statement issued today, a collision involving a car and a van occurred at approximately 12.30am on the westbound lanes of the dual carriageway.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The driver and sole occupant of the car, a male youth aged 17 years, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
“His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Tallaght Hospital.
“The occupants of the van, two men (aged 45 and 36) and a 9-year-old boy were taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital.
“Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.”
Garda forensic collision investigators have examined the crash site and both vehicles involved.
The road between Newlands and the Kingswood exit was closed, but has since fully reopened to traffic.
The Coroner has been notified of the death.
Investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses and in particular anyone with camera footage to make contact.
