
Ljays competitors figure among the Best
LJAYS Elite made it’s mark at last Saturday’s Best of the Best Tourna-ment in Roadstone capturing 10 gold, six silver and two bronze.
Oisin O’Brien (8) lost out in a close continuous fighting contest while Erin O’Hara (9) won gold after a series of tough fights in her Continuous division.
There was bronze for Alex Cahill (11) and Ava Condren (13) before Colm Prole and Dara O’Brien both lost out in their respective deciders.
Keva O’Brien (13) went top of the podium in her Points Fighting class before making it a double in the Continuous division.
Clodagh Murphy, lining out in a tough Senior Woman’s -60kg Continuous field fought her way to gold against tough opposition.
She then moved from novice to intermediate for experience and made it all the way to the decider where she was pipped.
Maurice Keogh, perform-ed well, but did not place in his continuous section .
In total nine fighters from Ljays Elite Martial Arts are taught by local brothers Jake, Zak and Josh Riddell from Kilnamanagh who, themselves, train with Nico Duffy KKC.
Each of the brothers won a Grand Champion 2017 belt, with Jake also taking gold in -80kg Senior Points and silver in Continuous, Zak three gold medals between points and continuous fighting and Josh gold in each of the divisions.
