Woman (35) smashes car window with microwave
By Brendan Grehan
A LUCAN woman who smashed a neighbours car window with a microwave oven has been ordered to pay compensation for the window by Blanchardstown District Court.
Emma Murphy used a microwave that had been left dumped on the ground in Meile An Rí Road in Lucan.
Murphy, (35) of Meile An Rí Road, Lucan, pleaded guilty to damaging a drivers window of a car at Meile An Rí Road, Lucan, on October 17, 2016.
Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge David McHugh that on the above date, Murphy had been arguing with a female neighbour on Meile An Rí Road in Lucan when she picked up a microwave and threw it at the drivers window of the woman’s car, smashing it.
Judge McHugh asked where the microwave had come from.
Sgt McManigan said it had been dumped on the road.
She said the damage came to €200.
Murphy’s counsel, Jennifer Jackson BL, said her client was a mother with four children and was on social welfare. She said Murphy did not have any monies in court.
Judge McHugh said compensation would have to be paid.
He remanded Murphy on continuing bail to a date in February for payment of compensation and for sentencing.
