Daire is flying in Junior Saloon Championship

DAIRE Flock is leading the Junior Saloon Car Championship in the UK, after competing at Croft and Snettertoin respectively.

16-year-old Croft from Tallaght was in action in North Yorkshire, near Darlington for the next round of the JSCC series.

With the forecast for changeable weather conditions and this being one of Daire’s favorite tracks he was aiming for the win.

In qualifying, it was going to be damp after a short shower, with a breeze and the sun coming out the track was dry before the end of the session.

With a slow start Daire, managed to post the two fastest laps putting him in pole position for both races by half a second.

Race 1, Daire got the start he needed from pole position and lead in to the fast corner and pushed to make a gap of one second.

Maintaining the gap Daire crossed the line by 1.5 seconds ahead to record his 10th win of the season and secure the fastest lap.

Race 2 again Daire lead from the start and this race was a little closer with second keeping his mirrors full for the first couple of laps.

With a safety car deployed it meant a 3-lap dash to the flag. Daire got the jump on the restart and maintained the pace to take the chequered flag for his second win.

Snetterton in Norfolk held the next round, with both races on Saturday, so qualifing was going to be important to get good grid positions.

After the 15 minute dash, Daire posted the fastest lap to take pole and second fastest in Race 2.

Race 1, Daire got the perfect start to lead the pack into the first corner and held the lead until a safety car was deployed to an stranded car.

With very little time left the safety car took the cars to the chequed flag with Daire leading the way.

Race 2, Daire started second and lost the lead into the first corner, but regained it down the backstraight, with second pushing for the lead Daire continued to lead until oil was spilled onto the tracked by another competitor.

This caused Daire to spin handing the lead to second place. Daire battled to retake the lead, but the leader defended to the line to take the win.

Daire said “it was great to get back to winning ways after Thruxton to take the double at Croft and to win at Snetterton, I hope to continue getting podiums to maximise my points for the championship as it’s double points at the last round at Brands Hatch it’s important to get points and gain a good lead from second in the championship”.

With Daire’s 11th win of the season, this puts him 19 points ahead in the championship, still 7 races to go with Silverstone in 2 weeks, it’s all still to play for with the other competitors close behind.
