Davis senior footballers secure first win of the season in Division One

THOMAS Davis secured their first win of the season against St Sylvesters on Sunday morning with a 4-10 to 0-11 win in Kiltipper Road.

Davis started much the stronger with a well worked score from Sean Farrelly soon followed up by a pass from Farrelly into Chris Sallier who finished to the back of the net.

Thomas Davis set themselves up very well keeping Sylvesters at bay right through the first half, with Syls hitting several wides from out the field. Davis continued to pile on the pressure with points from Eoin Kirby, Sallier and Shane McGrath before a well worked goal ended by full forward Kirby.

Sylvesters had to wait until the 28th minute to register their first score of the game. The sides went in with Thomas Davis 2-6 to a point ahead. Sylvesters managed by former Dublin player Jack Sheedy responded as expected with more intensity and registered the first 2 points of the second half.

However a superbly worked goal, finished by Sallier who rounded the keeper was a real blow to the Malahide side. Sylvesters to their credit responded hitting the next 5 points in a row setting the game up for a potentially unexpected nervy finish.

Thomas Davis then rallied with a quick counter attack down the right hand side of the field to end up being finished into the net by wing back Brian Kirby effectively ending the game.
