Special educational needs school approved for college
PLANS for the change of use of the community residence in Templeogue College into a special educational needs school have been given the green light by South Dublin County Council.
The Libermann Trust CLG lodged the planning application last October, with proposed works including the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing building.
The proposal also includes a new extension to the rear of the existing building.
The revised internal layout consists of four classrooms and related ancillary school facilities, such as a reception area, a principal’s office, a staff room, student and staff toilets, and a sensory room.
The development will also consist of associated minor alterations to the existing facades, including replacing all existing windows, and new external classroom doors on the western elevation.
New gently sloped access ramps and external covered walkways are to be to the north, east and west elevations.
The proposal includes the development of the rear garden, with provision of landscaping for two soft play areas, and the development of a new pedestrian access from Templeville Road.
On March 15, South Dublin County Council decided to grant permission for the change of use, with a number of conditions.
These conditions include the implementation of the landscape scheme that the applicant submitted, while a detailed play strategy using nature-based solutions for the subject site are to be submitted.
