Man fined €500 for breaching condition of safety order

A MAN was fined €500 for breaching conditions of a safety order with his ex-partner, asking her to drop charges against him.

At Tallaght District Court, gardai said the man had asked his ex-partner in an email if it would be possible for her to “ring police and drop charges.”

The court heard that the man told the ex-partner that he was at risk of losing his job “due to court cases” and that he was “missing out on too much money by taking days off work.”

In the email the man said that there was a communion coming up for one of their kids and that he was worried he “won’t have money to pay maintenance.”

The court heard there was one alleged breach before this matter.

Defence solicitor Jeremiah Breen said his client was a 32-year-old construction worker with four kids, and that he was fully aware of the conditions of the order.

Judge Brendan O’Reilly warned the man that if he breaches the order again he will be “going away.”

Judge O’Reilly imposed a three-month suspended sentence and fined the man €500 with three months to pay.
